Is My Faith Real? 5 Honest Questions to Ask Yourself

There's a question that haunts more Christians than you'd think: "Is my faith actually real?"

If you've ever asked that question, you're in good company. And honestly? The fact that you're asking it might be a better sign than you realize. People with no faith don't worry about whether their faith is genuine. Complacent people don't lose sleep over complacency.

But let's not settle for comfort. Let's get honest.

1. Has Anything Actually Changed?

Not "have you added church to your schedule?" but has the core of who you are shifted? Do you want different things than you used to? Do you grieve sin — not just getting caught, but the sin itself?

Real faith produces real change. Not perfection — change.

2. Do You Know God or Just Know About Him?

There's a massive difference between studying a menu and eating the meal. You can memorize Bible verses, listen to podcasts, and follow every Christian influencer online — and still not actually know God.

Knowing God means you talk to Him. You hear from Him. You've experienced His presence in a way that goes beyond information.

3. What Does Your Private Life Look Like?

Faith that only shows up in public isn't faith — it's performance. What do you do when no one's watching? What do you consume? How do you speak? How do you treat the people closest to you?

Your private life is the truest measure of your spiritual life.

4. Are You Growing or Just Maintaining?

Living things grow. If your faith looks exactly the same as it did two years ago — same depth, same habits, same understanding — something might be off. Growth doesn't mean perfection. It means movement. Direction. Hunger for more.

5. Would You Follow Jesus If It Cost You Everything?

This is the hardest question. Because for most of us, faith hasn't cost us anything yet. But Jesus was clear: following Him means taking up your cross. It means loss. It means surrender.

If your faith only works when it's convenient, it might be time to ask what you're actually following.

What Now?
